An Open House...

What: OPEN HOUSE

When: May 16th... 1pm-3pm & again from 7pm-9pm

Why: To get rid of some amazing goodies, & to raise money for Alzheimer's.

In an effort to get some cute items off my hands ( & into yours!!) I'm hosting an Open House.

A percentage of the money raised on May 16th will go towards a Memory Walk we are doing with Kevin's family for the Alzheimers Association.

I'll have some goodies that have been seen in previous posts (things that I didn't end up selling at the March of Dimes show), a few retired stamps sets, door prizes, & special items per HOUR for certain things like a % off or FREE shipping.

I'll also address anything you guys want to see demo'd, etc. Come with your questions, or bring a picture you want scrapbooked!!

I will also have a sign up sheet for a class I'm starting once every two months. Each class will focus on a different technique and special item in the catalog.

ALSO... the Occasions Mini Catalog has been EXTENDED through the end of June!! There are SO many awesome buys in this little catalog.

Hope to see you ALL on the 16th!!

Please RSVP by the 13th (this way I can plan for enough door prizes, snacks, tables/chairs, etc.).

Another Color Challenge!!

Here is the color challenge on Kristina's blog this week:

As most of you know... I LOVE these colors!! They are the same colors I have in my bedroom and I adore anything and everthing about the bedding in the photo!!

I knew I wanted some kind of flowery-ish stamp set, so I pulled out my new Essence of Life. I've only made one other card with this set, but I was DYING to have it! I think I'll hammer out some more with it the next few days.

Recipe:

Cardstock: Very Vanilla, Close to Cocoa, Chocolate Chip, Soft Sky

Ink: Close to Cocoa, Chocolate Chip, Soft Sky

Accessories: Slit Punch for Scallops, Satin Ribbon, Eyelets, Dimensionals to raise butterfly's & main image

Kristina Werner Design Blog Challenge

I've seen several of Kristina's challenges now, but I have yet to do one. I never seem to catch her blog at the right time and end up doing the color combos on my own timeline.

Tonight, however, I was able to play!!

Check out her awesome blog, here: http://www.kwernerdesign.com/blog/index.html

Here is the #6 challenge photo:

Kristina asked us to use Sahara Sand, Pumpkin Pie, So Saffron, & Wild Wasabi (in small amounts).
Here is what I came up with...

I really like it, although it wasn't how I envisioned it. I KNEW I'd use this set, Fabulous Flowers, since I've only had about 2 weeks and have yet to REALLY use it.

What do you guys think?

Recipe:
Cardstock: Sahara Sand, Pumpkin Pie, So Saffron, & Wild Wasabi
Ink: Whisper White Craft
Accessories & Tools: Eyelets, Slit Punch, Ticket Corner Punch, Paper Piercer, Crop-a-dile, Grosgrain Ribbon, Dimensionals

Happy Happy Birthday!!

Today I'm sharing a couple of the MANY cards I've been making for birthday's this month.

The first one is for Addy, my best friends' little girl. She turned one on the 13th... I can hardly believe it!!

I wanted something really bright, and fun. And, I wanted to try out a challenge from Nichole Heady @ Papertrey Ink of making ribbon the focal point of a card.

For those that DON'T know it... I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE ribbon!!! I almost called myself Ribbon Fanatic when I was coming up with a name. I'm obsessed with everything about it and VERY rarely do I make a card that doesn't have SOME kind of ribbon. I love that ribbon doesn't have to be overly girly- but it can really dress a card up.

The second card was for Steve- he's one of Kevin's best friends and he was in our wedding. His birthday was the 14th. Steve is a very punk rock type of guy- long, messy hair, doesn't dress up (EVER!) and loves shirts that say things like "I love beer"... gotta love him!! He's also the lead singer of the band St. Thomas Boys Academy (punk rock, of course!). I wanted to make him something that really reflected his personality. I think this did the trick!

I have one more card that I *so* wish I could share, but Jenny's birthday is on Sunday, so it has to wait until I know she's received it. I'm sooo excited for her to see it! I really hope she loves it!

I'm off to make a couple more cards for this week as well... Jackie's b-day is tomorrow (HUGE party on Saturday) and Katrina's is the 3rd of May.

Yes- all three of my very best friends are born within a week of one another! They are all Taurus- another reason why I think we all get along so well & yes- they all can be pretty stubborn in their own right. LOVE that about them!!

Off to do more of my best work for my best gals... catch ya later!

Wedding Invite Samples...

Ok, I've been promising these for weeks.... so here they are!

This one is 5X7 with a ribbon tie. I used Regal Rose cardstock from SU!.

It has a pocket on the inside left for three cards- accomodations, reception, and RSVP. I used my Borders Mini from Papertrey Ink to create the little box that says Mr. & Mrs. inside.

I used shimmer white cardstock for the printed invite- and made the names rose to stand out. I placed a piece of cardstock vellum over the text and attached the two with a piece of ribbon to match the front.

This one was a big hit!!

And the first one I came up with...

I made this one quite a bit smaller- I used Petty in Pink SU! paper and rounded the edges using the Coluzzle Cutting System. I stamped the entire thing with an image from Doodle This in Versa Mark so that it matched the paper.

I made a belly band with the same color and tied a sheer white and black grosgrain ribbon around it.

I then made a tag using my designer punch and a circle punch to hang from the ribbons. I sponged the white circle with Pretty in Pink ink and attached the whole thing with a piece of silver thread. I wrote "Mr. & Mrs. Kennedy" on it for show... My thought was to put the names of the guests on each tag OR a monogram, etc.

For the inside, I used white cardstock over a black base. More cardstock vellum for overlay and two silver brads to attach the sheets together.

I had some mixed reviews on this one... but overall I like the way it turned out!!
I showed them both to Meagan last night and so far she's liking the first one.
I'm going to create some more samples and we'll hammer out details soon. I can't believe she's getting married in a few short months!! Crazy!

In other good news... I met someone else last night that may need invites for her Michigan reception- she's having a destination wedding in May. Fun!! I hope she see's this, and I hope she gets a hold of me- I'd love to do something fabulous for her too!! :)

Let me know what YOU think about my samples!!

More March of Dimes Vendor Show goodies!!

The first thing I'm showing you today is a mini clear paint can... I made 10 - 3x3 (ish) cards to go inside. They are actually a tiny bit smaller than 3x3 because I had to fit them in the tin!! They are all birthday cards- the kind you can attach to a gift card or with a present for someone. I added ribbons to the handle with coordinating colors. I just adore the way it turned out!!

The top of my paint can...
& 4 samples of the cards that I included.

And... another Nugget Tin. I LOVE the sayings from Full of Life, & I HAD to use more of the summer picnic paper and Tart & Tangy set from the Occasions Mini!!

Hope everyone is enjoying this weather... days like this I don't mind living here so much!! ;)

So long since a post...

Sorry it's been so long since my last post!!

I like to update with new stuff every couple days, but I've been extra busy with vendor show making & coming up with invite samples for my friend, Meagan.

Hope some of you can make it to the March of Dimes show- it's SUCH a good cause and I have SO much cute stuff to display!!

If you're on my mailing list, then you received the last e-mail about classes. I want to start doing more technique classes and classes using certain products; like one whole class on chipboard, or felt flowers, build-a-brads, etc. I'm loving SO much of my SU! stuff and I'm really getting antsy to share with everyone else!!

How many of you readers are NON-card makers and only scrapbookers? Would you be interested in a crop night or class based on pages? Let me know! I've got SO many pics to scrapbook myself- it'd be a GREAT excuse to get together and play with my stuff! ;)

Also... I'd love to do a class for something like the two nugget tins seen above. These are both for my vendor show... they include 12 Hershey Nuggets- they are all wrapped with pre-stamped labels, then they have a little decorative touch on the top of each nugget. Then we made a belly band and decorated that to cover the top on sides of the tin. SO easy and SUPER cute!!
I got the tins from a new fav company of mine, Papertrey Ink. They have an awesome website and some really great deals on stuff... including the oval scallop punch I used in this birthday card for my friend, Janice. She turned 24 on Friday and her and her sister share the same BD (only 4 years apart). They wore a purplish dress and a green dress that matched, so I went off those colors. I LOVE this new punch by Marvy. It's a bit different than my SU! punches, but I like it none the less!
Recipe:
Stamp Set: Birthday Whimsy

Designer Paper: Old Olive
Ink: Old Olive, Purely Pomegranate
Accessories: Satin Ribbon, Brads, Crystal Effects & Glitter on the "frosting" & candles of the cake

New Stuff!!

Wanted to do a quickie update with some of the cards I made the past couple days...

I LOVE the sentiments in the Full of Life set, especially the Lennon quote. So very true!!

I'm working on stuff ALL weekend long & I've been asked to make some prototypes for wedding invites, so I'll post those once I get them done.

I'll post recipes for the cards later if anyone is interested.

Hope you are all well... watch out for some more Blog Candy in the next week or so.

& Laura... I mailed your stamps, so they should be there anyday. Sorry it took so long, I cleaned up my desk and put them away and the other night I was looking for something in the closet and realized I never mailed them!!! Oops! Forgive me!
