Kristina Werner Design Blog Challenge #10

I used Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge and my Fresh Cuts set from the Fall/Winter 2oo8 catalog.

I LOVE this card, too bad when I went to post it on Splitcoast I realized that I was suppose to use Not Quite Navy- I used Night of Navy instead. Ugh.

Back the drawing board, but I still wanted to share this with you since I do love it!

ETA: Here is my REAL submisson for the challenge. I just love these colors. I did the same layout and used most of the same paper pieces and ribbon.

I happen to like this one a lot, too!

Inspiration Alley!!

Welll... many of you know that I share my work space with my husband. We have a small home office and one desk houses our shared computer and another desk equipped with a large hutch supplies me the space I need to create. Unfortunately- we don't have a basement. In buying this house I conceded to let Hubby have the reins in the office. He picked the colors, the decor, and has pub signs, Red Wing/Tigers/Lions memoribilia strewn about the walls and pretty much ANY else that doesn't move. In my tiny little creative corner I wanted a cork wall. But- there was no room. I bought the cork tiles regardless. I was going to put those bad boys SOMEWHERE- and then like a lightbulb it hit me last week- how about I place them on the closet door. It's just to the left of my desk, in plain sight for me, but behind the office door enough that hubby isn't "distracted" by it!

Last night I went to town decorating my new space. I printed my calendars, got some great pieces of scrap ribbon, pulled out my RAK's (random acts of kindness), die cut blooms, and started something great... the more I looked at it, the more I knew it needed. Time for my trusty Rub-Ons... I know many of you have YET to use SU!'s awesome rub-ons- I assure you they are some of *the* best quality rub-ons I've ever come across.

I got busy using a couple different sets and here is what my final product looks like... Tahhh Dahhhh!!

I'm soo happy with the result. Here are close-up's:

Calendar of Events and cards I need to make

Spot to showcase some of my latest work and inspiration pieces.

RAK Wall with two cards from Beth (my fabulous Upline)

I have ONE cork board left... If I could get some suggestions they'd be much appreciated. If I decide to use YOUR suggestion I'll send you a little goody bag full of some awesome SU! treats!! :)

And of course... I couldn't post without leaving a card. Here is something I created for part of my Stamps By The Month Club- sign up for a three month subscription (do NOT have to be consecutive months) of cards. Tell me who they are for, what they are for, and how many you need PER month. Get them delievered or mailed by the middle of the previous month. You pay based on how many average cards you have for all three months. Great deal if I say so myself!

This is for a 2 year old's birthday...
I used Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge and some awesome Sticky Cuts Letter's from the Spring/Summer Catty. LOVE those bad boys!! I used them for Tommy's 2nd b-day card, Trina's 30th, and now this one.
There is a contest in our SU! Demo publication for the month of July using them... I think I may enter. Just because I like them THAT much!!!
Enjoy everyone... have a great rest of the week, can't believe it's HUMP day! :)

A mini showcase...

I find that I don't post often enough, so here are some recent creations!

The first card was a color challenge on SCS, the same challenge I featured in my Fresh Cuts blog post from yesterday! This time I used Bashful Blue instead of Soft Sky, however.

Since I've been on a kick with the black, purely pomegrante, and soft sky the past few weeks and I've made several cards lately using that combo.

This final card was made for a good friend's b-day, who happens to be an interior designer. I wanted something with really clean lines, but I wanted to throw together some awesome colors too! I pulled out the retired Cool Caribbean and tossed that together with Groovy Guava & River Rock. Love it!!

Really... I'm going to bed. It's way late in my terms!

Enjoy tomorrow as it's "Monday" for us all!!

One last peek...

And here is *the* final sample of Meg's wedding invites!!

I'm really happy with the way they turned out!

I have most of the parts here, and I started cutting and printing some pieces tonight. It's going to be a LONG and busy month, but I think the final result and getting my name out there will make it ALL worthwhile!!

I have to go out and get the ribbon this week as well, but other than that I'm ready to assemble once she gets back to me with a few more details.

I'm hoping it will go rather quickly. Cutting 100 belly bands & response cards only took 45 mins tonight (Thanks to my new Tonic cutter, I'm sure!!).

Back to the grind tomorrow... but lucky me, I have Friday off too! :)

Later Ladies!

Featured Stamper Challenge

This week the challenge was to case a card by Peanutbee...

**I really need to learn how to link from here! Anyone that can help?! I tried to have Laura, Scrapnextras, help me, but I guess Typepad is set up differently than Blogger and I couldn't seem to figure it out!** ETA: I figured it out!!!!!!

I love Denise's gallery... and the card I choose to case was this one:

I used my Tart & Tangy set, along with the circles from Pick a Petal. My sentiment came from the Lots of Thought set. I got the rhinestones from Target- Marcella by K. Ribbon is SU! Striped- LOVE it!!

Remember that the Tart & Tangy set is ONLY available thru the end of June. Get yours now!!

I'm really pleased with how it turned out and SO glad I got those 3 packs (of 300 each!) dimensionals in the mail on Friday! Hehe.

Happy Memorial Day to all!

Ok, seriously...

This might be *the* most exciting day of my stamping life!!

I got a comment on my last post about my card from Patti(www.paperpiecingpatty.blogspot.com) who said she had stumbled to my blog from Allison's blog (http://stampinwhenican.blogspot.com).

Let's just say, I visit Allison's blog a lot. And... I get lots of inspiration from the Newly Discovered blogs she posts... And today, MINE was one of them!!!!

I am still in complete shock... of course I told Kevin and jumped up and down a bit. Haha... so like me! He kind of looked at me like, "yeah, whatever crazy lady"- but really, it's SUCH a huge deal to me. To know that *I* am noticed out there, crazy!!!

So... for any of you that are new, WELCOME!! I appreciate everyone that takes the time to comment on my blog. Enjoy!! :)

Real Fresh Cuts...

This weekend we are busy with updating things around the house! Yesterday we put in a new vanity (who knew that could be SO challenging?!) and today I'm painting new pieces for our picket fence (yes, it's white!) and Kevin is power washing the house. Tomorrow we're returning all the stuff we bought and didn't need or it didn't fit, etc. Then, we're going to Trader Joes to get some goodies for the week. I just love that place!!

Here are some cards I made in the midst of all that yesterday...

I made this card to combine two challenges on Splicoast. The first one was the Ways to Use it challenge, this week it was to do something masculine. Then, I checked out the Inspiration Challenge, and this week was a set of fabulous fabrics from a ad company.

I came up with this card, which happens to be a masculine "Thank You" card. I think sometimes people forget that men appreciate a "thanks" too!!

I used my newest set- it's actually going to be available to all my customers in June as a preview of the Fall & Winter Catalog. Also in June, you can get your hands on a Fresh Cuts set of cards and envelopes. They are 4x4 cards in whisper white with a die-cut flower on the front.

I think they are simply adorable, as you can see here! This card was for this weeks color challenge, Soft Sky, Blue Bayou, & Certainly Celery.

The background image on this Fresh Cuts set says Thinking of You over and over across it... I think this would make a great Sympathy card image, without being so somber.

I ended up cutting the front of the 4x4 card off, and I attached it to a 5x5 base in Certainly Celery. I added a Soft Sky ribbon, and that's about it!

I FINALLY got my order of dimensionals in, so I couldn't wait to use them! I don't know how I made it ONE week without those things. I just adore them. And if you aren't sure what they are- you NEED them!!! They are little sticky things that adhere to the back of your image and then you POP it up on the next layer. See the top image to see what I mean (I put them on the main image & the sentiment and popped them both)!! I just love them!

Off to get some bagels for breakfast and chicken salad this week. YUM!

Happy Memorial Day... Let's see some creations, kids!!

Been a while...

Well... I missed Kristina Werner's challenge last week. Between work, Meagan's invite order, and trying to make cards for the Alzheimer's Fundraiser, I just ran out of time!!

She didn't post one this week, however, because she is off to NYC for a convention. Lucky!!

Here is a color challenge card from last week over at Splitcoast. I just love these colors together. Ruby Red, Soft Sky, & Pumpkin Pie. Of course I love them- hello... Pumpkin Pie!! ;)

I used the blender pens to pick up the colors from the ink pads to use to color the teacup and flowers. I used some rub-ons from the Perfect Day set for the white swirl. The patterned paper is stamped with flowers from the Fabulous Flowers set, which I just LOVE right now!!
The next card was made for my dad's best friend, who is getting married this weekend. Their colors are purple & silver, so I wanted something elegant and I wanted to use the biggest of the Fabulous Flowers set... I embossed one in black, one in irridescent ice, and stamped the last one in Almost Amethyst, then cut them into pieces and attached with a rhintstone brad.
After that, I attached a Mr. & Mrs. from the All Holidays' set and put a oval piece of Hodgepodge hardware around it. I also added a piece of scalloped paper and then tied a sheer ribbon around it.
It may be *the* most elegant card I have EVER made!
I'll try to post a little more... I'm busy with the invites now, however! 100 to make only ONE month to do it... AHHHHHHHHHH!!
Hope everyone is well!

Kristina Werner Design Blog Challenge, Again...

Loved this color challenge!! I got to use some more of my Designer Series in Jersey Shore. I really love Pumpkin Pie, as you can cleary see from many of my cards on my blog.

I used my new Hostess Set, Sweet Dreams, for the card too!!

Enjoy!!

Wednesday, May 7, 2008

Well... my girlfriend, Meagan, decided on the invites that she wants for her wedding! We spent a little over an hour on Saturday just getting details together and figuring out which papers, style, etc. she would use.

I think they are going to look gorgeous once they are complete! She has to give me a count this week and then I have to order supplies. Once I get everything I'm going to dig right in.

In the meantime, I had another person interested in invites (a daughter of Kevin's Aunt's co-worker). So, I made a couple more samples and sent them along with the others I had made for her to look at.

Here they are: The first is a gatefold with a scallop & riboon enclousure.

The second one is a two fold card- it opens twice to reveal the final product. I really think it's a cute card, but it would be a LOT of cardstock and work for wedding invites!!

For both invites I used Shimmery White SU! cardstock, along with Rose Red & Regal Rose from SU! as well. The patterned paper is from Papertrey Ink and I think it's super cute for invites!! LOVE it!

What do you think?

More goodies...

Here is the adorable cupcake card I made for Jenny for her birthday! Now that I know she received it, it's OK for me to share with everyone!!

I picked the colors I did because they were a challenge on Splicoast. I found the awesome layout for this card from Outside the Lines with Linsey. Check out her blog for details on this card and some other sweet little ones like a ketchup bottle and hamburger!! Too cute!

Glad you liked the card, Jen! Everytime I see anything cupcakes and cherries I think of you! Love ya!!
